UK GREEN LIST IS NO LONGER IN USE, ALL RESTRICTIONS HAVE BEEN LIFTED – 2023 UPDATED

Do you have an interest in traveling in the UK? Something big has just happened; The “green list” is no longer in use. This means traveling to different places might be a bit different now. But don’t fret, and we can still go on exciting journeys. We just have to be cautious and follow the guidelines.

Starting from May 17th (and May 24th for Northern Ireland), you can go on trips to other countries from England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Before this, people couldn’t travel because of something called lockdown.

But don’t worry, and it’s over now. The government had a plan called the “traffic light system,” which showed which countries were safe to go to, but they changed it so it would be easier for people to travel.

Are you planning a trip soon? It’s really important to get ready before you go. Here’s some information that will help your trip be successful.

Green List – 2023 Updates

Have you heard about the changes to travel in the UK? The “green list” and “amber list” are no longer used. Starting on October 4th, there’s a new, simpler system with just two parts: a “red list” and a “non-red list.” The head of transportation, Grant Shapps, announced it on Twitter. He said they made it easier by only having two lists and that keeping people safe and healthy is their top priority.

Have you heard the latest about traveling in the UK? Something changed on March 18th. Now, you don’t need to test, stay home, or fill out a form before you travel, whether you got a shot or not. That’s right, and there are no rules about traveling within the UK now.

Did you know that Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have special rules for traveling? They’re making sure to follow them, so everyone stays safe and healthy.

Travel to Green List Countries Rules

If you’re planning a trip away from the UK in Covid, the government wants you to know some important things to stay safe and healthy. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Check the rules of the places you’re visiting.
  2. Check the foreign travel advice.
  3. Get any tests for the virus that may be required before you go.
  4. If you’ve been vaccinated, you need to carry your NHS COVID PASS while travelling abroad.

Remember, these rules might change, so double-check before you head out. Have a fantastic trip, and stay safe.

A group called “Which?” has put together a guide with the latest information on travel during the Covid pandemic. Currently, no countries are considered “red” for travel, meaning everyone is considered “green.” This means that if you’re going to the UK, you don’t need to worry about filling out special forms, taking tests, or staying home.

However, other places you might travel to have their own rules about who can come in, so it’s a good idea to check before you go to make sure you know what to do.

On January 10th, 2022, you were allowed to travel to foreign countries again. But the UK government wants to make sure you’re safe and healthy, so they made a list of places to visit based on their safety.

The list uses a traffic light system, with green, amber, and red, to show how safe a place is and what rules you have to follow while you’re there. This is to keep you and others from getting sick from the COVID-19 virus or any new versions of it.

“The UK government made a special list of safe places to travel called the “traffic light system.” On May 7th, they added some new countries to the “green” list, which means these countries are considered safe to visit.

Some of the green list countries are Australia, Germany, and some Caribbean islands. If you travel to a green list country, you must take two tests to ensure you’re not sick, one before you go back to the UK and one when you arrive.

You also have to give your contact information to health officials. You can find the whole list of green, amber, and red countries on the UK government’s website.”

“Here’s what you need to know about traveling:

Green List places: Before returning to England, you have to take a test to ensure you don’t have COVID-19. You also have to book and pay for 2 more tests to take when you arrive in England and fill out a form with your information. When you get to England, you have to take another test 2 days later. But kids who are 4 and under don’t have to take this test. If your test says you’re not sick, you can go about your usual activities. But if someone you traveled with tests positive for COVID-19, you’ll have to stay away from others for a while.

Amber List places: The government says it’s best to only travel to these places if it’s really important. Before you go back to England, you have to take a test, book and pay for 2 more tests to take 2 and 8 days after you arrive, and fill out a form with your information. When you get to England, you’ll have to stay away from others for 10 days and take 2 more tests 2 and 8 days after you arrive.

Red List places: If you travel to one of these places, you’ll have to stay in a special hotel for 10 days, take a test before you leave, and 2 more tests when you get to England.”

When you visit from another country, there are rules you must follow, even if you received the shot, to protect against getting sick.

If you’re coming from a country on the “red list,” you’ll have to reserve a place to stay for a short time to make sure you’re healthy. If you’re coming from a country on the “amber” or “green” list, you’ll have to take a test before your visit. You can do this by booking a test pack from a place approved by the government.

The government thinks about some important things when they make rules for visitors from other countries. They look at the following:

  • How many people in that country have had the shot
  • The number of people who are getting sick
  • If there are any new and dangerous sicknesses
  • If the country has good information and ways to find out about the sickness

These things help them decide what rules to make.

The government says that there are still risks from sicknesses that have changed a little bit, so visitors from other countries will have to follow the rules like staying in a special place for 10 days or at home and taking tests. The rules will be different depending on what country the visitor is coming from. If the country is “green,” the rules will be one way. If the country is “amber,” the rules will be different way. And if the country is “red,” the rules will be different again.

Even though they are starting to relax some rules, the government still thinks it’s important to take tests to stay healthy.

Here’s a simple to-do list for your trip planning:

  1. Before you go, check a government website to know the rules at your destination.
  2. Check a special list to find out what you need to do before returning back to UK.
  3. Book your travel insurance as soon as possible and make sure it covers illness.
  4. Have all your important papers ready, like your passport and visa.
  5. Find out about any new rules for wearing masks and staying away from others during your trip.
  6. If you’re heading to Europe, make sure to take any extra steps before you go.

Do I Need to Get a Test Done Before Coming Back to the UK?

Do you remember when we had to take a special test before and after traveling? Well, good news; On March 18th, 2022, all those rules were lifted, and now you don’t have to take a test, no matter if you got a shot or not. Isn’t that awesome?

Where can You travel to Without Restrictions?

Just because we can travel freely in the UK doesn’t mean we can do the same everywhere else. Other countries might have their own rules, like needing proof of a vaccine or filling out a form.

Some might even want you to take a test before you can visit. So, before we plan a trip to a new place, it’s important to find out what the rules are so we can be ready.

Many countries in Europe and the EU have opened up to visitors from the UK, especially those who have received all their coronavirus vaccine doses. This means you can now visit fun places like Madeira, Malta, Germany, and Croatia. Time to plan a vacation.

When planning a trip, it’s important to check the government website first. This way, you’ll know if there are any new rules about traveling. The rules can sometimes change, so it’s a good idea to keep checking.

Is There Any Sign of Green List Coming Back?

“There’s no sign that the government is going to use the traffic light system again. They haven’t said anything about it, so we’ll just have to wait and find out what they plan to do.”
